En simple palabras, debemos aprender primero la distinción entre lo esencial y lo no esencial en todas las cosas. Lo esencial es eterno, lo no esencial solamente tiene valor por un cierto tiempo; y si no son reemplazados por algo esencial, se vuelven positivamente peligrosos. No quiero decir con esto que  debemos pararnos y denigrar todas nuestras viejas costumbres. Ciertamente no; no deben denigrar ni al más maligno de ellos. No denigren nada. - SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

In plain words, we have first to learn the distinction between the essentials and the non-essentials in everything. The essentials are eternal, the non-essentials have value only for a certain time; and if after a time they are not replaced by something essential, they are positively dangerous. I do not mean that you should stand up and revile all your old customs and institutions. Certainly not; you must not revile even the most evil one of them. Revile none.- SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
